Combined Problem: Attention, Memory and Planning


A 22 year old girl (medical student) had a horse-riding accident  with several days of loss of conscoiusness. MRI showed  diffuse axonal injury.

She made a good  physical and emotional recovery . When resuming her university education she experienced considerable difficulties  to deal with and store new taught information as well as planning her day with a mixture of university studies, home studies ,home logistics and leisure time .

She had difficulties in concentrating on one subject for more than 20 minutes.

The ability of to concentrate is a necessary prerequisite for successful learning. Coventionally the problem  is treated by computer assisted training and learning to use memory facilitating techniques. These are repetitecvly trained in sort of everyday tasks ( e.g. how to plan a day or journey)


Can VR help in the adaptation of learning and planing strategies by e.g. simulating interesting, relevant and real life situations with problem difficulty adjustable to the patient`s abilities?
